Maintains appropriate internal controls over billing, charge capture, accounts receivable and cash receipt functions. Monitors patient revenue activities with collection agencies, insurance companies, Emergency Department and front Admissions areas, Revenue Cycle, Information Systems, patients and physicians and their staff, and internal hospital departments. Implements appropriate admission, billing and collection procedures, ensuring that the inpatient and outpatient registrations and accounts receivable records are kept in accordance with established procedures

Maintains personnel requirements including job descriptions, performance appraisals, disciplinary action, continuing education, and proficiency testing for compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Plans educational programs for department personnel. Ensures consistent application of all departmental and hospital policies

Maintains controls and processes regarding timely, accurate and detailed medical records documentation. Coordinates utilization of medical record services in applications such as medical audits. Maintains and participates in Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance activities as determined by the hospital including hospital operations improvement.

Investigates and reports on all current reimbursement developments on the state and federal levels

Requires 1) Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or related filed; or 2) High school diploma or equivalent with 5 years of related work experience and AAHAM, IHHA, HFMA certification. 5 additional years of related work experience including supervisory experience required.
